これはおもしろいなー。
小型ヘリコプターのような飛行体が、あらかじめプログラムされたアルゴリズムに従って次々とモジュールを組み立てて構造体をつくっていく、というインスタレーション。

ポリスチレンフォームでできた1500個のモジュールを積層し、高さ6m･直径3.5mのモデルを組み立てる。
最終形では、高さ600mのメガストラクチャーによる“垂直集住体”をつくることを構想している……と。
何機かある飛行体が壁に設けられたベースから飛び立っていって、モジュールをつかむとそれを運んで一個一個積み上げていく。この飛行体たちが小さくてかわいい。その動きは生物的というよりも、背後に何かアルゴリズムがあるな、っていうのを感じさせる機械的な動き。直線に飛んだり、空中静止したり。でも工場での生産風景のようなものとも違う。ラインがあるわけではなくて、自由に飛行しながらおこなわれているからだろうか。何か地球外知性体の建設現場を見ているような感じだ。
映像しか見ていないけど、実際のインスタレーションも見てみたい。

Our projects combine the physis of built architecture with digital logics. Therefore, we do not design architecture solely by drawing, but conceive spatial relationships and contextual behaviour through programming. In doing so, we use the potentials of the computer and of digital fabrication complementary to traditional design, construction and building methods. The sensual quality of this design culture manifests itself in the novel expression of a Digital Materiality.

My work is focused on the creation of systems that leverage technological innovations, scientific principles, advanced mathematics, algorithms, and the art of design in unprecedented ways, with an emphasis on advanced motion control.
By their very nature, these creations require a team to realize. Many are enabled by the research I conduct with my graduate students. Many are also the fruit of collaborations with architects, entrepreneurs, and artists.
My hope is that these creations inspire us to rethink what role technology should have in shaping our future.
